So I wonder if anyone can tell me why I get SO SORE when I work out?!

Question: I know it's normal to feel some soreness, but I get REALLY sore, like it's hard to move at all for the next couple of days, expecially the 2nd day. I don't know if this is due to a nutritional imbalance or what, but when I ask friends how they feel after a work out, they don't seem to be in as much pain as I am. Any ideas?

everyone reacts to physical stress differently, but what you are experiencing is called "delayed muscle soreness" and is caused by the build-up of lactic acids in your muscle tissue while exercising along with micro-tearing of muscle fibers. try a sports drink like gatorade before during and after workouts to replace electrolytes lost through sweating. also, you may just be doing too much too soon and not letting your body recover between workouts.

If you don't excercise regularly, you may get sore for a few days.

Did ya strech enough before u worked out???

Gotta strech hun

You are OVERDOING IT. Your body is talking to you, are you going to be smart enough to listen to it?

My guess would probably be from you taking it in the butt too much, :D

Not knowing your routine, my guess is that you are probably not stretching AFTER your workout.

If you just started to work out... Then yes ur gonna feel pain for a few days because your body is not used to working out. Give it time, and ur body will develop muscle memory, and u will be fine.

if you exercise on a regular basis the soarness will eventually go away. Are you lifting weights ? Maybe they are too heavy for you. Or, maybe your friends arent doing as much as you do. Soar is good though. It means you are working your muscles...not a nutritional imbalance.

your not used to working out. you need to work out hard one day then lay off the next day and the second day you work out again it hurts really bad but it will get the soreness out

OMG i get the same thing. i tried exersising by playing my WII system and walking on my tredmill. then later that evening i was hurting in my elbows, lower back, and my shoulders. i think is nutrition imbalance. i admit i dont exersise that much. i mean im not fat but i should exersise mroe than i do. its just becuase your body isnt use to that kind of movement. try exersising small amounts at first then as it gets more frequent up the time period. maybe every other day do about 15 mins of fun exersise such as jogging(slow pace) take my example play WII if you have one. dance around your room. anything to keep you motivated but dont burn yourself out cuz then your just right back to where you started. hope i helped :D

Check to make sure your getting enough potassium, and or calcium/magnesium in your diet. Are you eating enough protein? Are you stretching? Stretching is very important. Stretching before and after a work out not only helps prevents muscle soreness but also helps with having a nice well defined look.

It's always worse on the second day for me too. I used to belong to a gym and they told us it was important to stretch AFTER you exercise so that your warm muscles won't tighten up. Kind of like if you don't stretch a rope or a piece of leather when it's wet, it might shrink up and get tighter.

A warm-up exercise is first needed to get the lazy joints moving before any workouts or sports to prevent injuries. This is mostly started off with some deep breathing exercises and moving on to stretching and then bending exercises. This gets the blood circulating and should be done for at least 10-15 minutes prior to the actual workout. Once you start the warm-ups, you'll notice that you get a feeling of exhilaration, your body feels better and the energy level is higher when you do your workouts.

Before you work out, you need to stretch. That helps loosen up all your muscles that you haven't used in yrs or whatever. Also after you work out stretch, then instead of a shower, take you a nice hot bath, this will also help to loose harden muscles.

When I first started working out, I almost cried my legs were so sore, I didn't stretch first. I asked a personal trainer, and he told me to ALWAYS stretch, before and after. Do I have a personal trainer, Nope....LOL

because you are injuring your muscle fibers try to get into it slowly and work your way up the pain is your body telling you it has been worked too hard the more you exercise the pain will lessen

LACTIC ACID build up
