I don't understand Family Doctors and Medical Records.?!

Question: I'm on disability (car accident).

If I need blood work, I just call, ask if they take my insurance, and schedule to come in. Same thing with foot doctors, etc. I don't understand what I need a Family Doctor for. They seem incapable of making as good as references as if I had looked up the information in a phone book or online.

The disability office requires that I submit medical records of all surgeries and doctor visits since my injuries for claims. I don't have that information at this time. Do I ask my Family Doctor to get them.... and will he keep them on file for as long as he is my family doctor? Because if that is the case, that would be very convenient. If not, and he is only there for references and approvals, that is lame and useless.

your Family Doctor, PCP, Primary Care Physician is the one whom oversees ALL of your needs, referrals, meds, treatments....and is the one that the state, attorneys, other Doctors and facilities will contact to collect and share information about YOUR case, care, and treatment on an on-going basis.
It may be lame, but that is how the system works.

its more than what u think....
