Weird bruising?!

Question: My ten year old daughter has been getting a lot of bruises all over her body for about a week now. At first I thought it was just the contact rugby that she plays but there are too many just to be the rugby. She has about 50 all over her body. When you press down on them she says they don't hurt. She has had a low grade fever for a couple of days as well as looking pale and swollen glands etc the doctor says it is a virus. She also has been getting tired a lot easier than usual and had lost a significant amount of weight in 1 week (5 pounds). This morning I noticed a lump in her neck and have scheduled emergency doctors appointment for tomorrow. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Ok. I don't want to scare you, but it could be this. http://www.webmd.com/cancer/tc/leukemia-...

Leukemia has many of the symptoms you have mentioned. I am glad you are taking her to the doctor. Please make sure they rule this out. If your doctor doesn't catch it early enough, it can be very bad. Please read the above link for more information. Based upon your updates, I would very very seriously look at this.... GL

Symptoms include:

These and other symptoms may be caused by childhood ALL (Acute Lymphatic Leukemia). Other conditions may cause the same symptoms. A doctor should be consulted if any of the following problems occur:

Fever.
Easy bruising or bleeding.
Petechiae (flat, pinpoint spots under the skin caused by bleeding).
Bone or joint pain.
Painless lumps in the neck, underarm, stomach, or groin.
Pain or feeling of fullness below the ribs.
Weakness or feeling tired.
Loss of appetite.

Please let me know how it turns out. I am now quite worried on her behalf. The symptoms you are describing match everything I am reading about this. DO NOT let her doctor push you off with "it's a virus". Viruses do not cause such bruising that I am aware of.

low iron, thyroid, mono any age can get it sharing drinks and such

Gland infection. Treat immediately.

You might want to get her checked for a systemic disease. Candida and Mold can behave like that among a couple other things....
If your regular doctor wont test for Candida, see a naturopath who will or order one online from a reliable testing facility.

Yeah I would say she has a low amount of iron in her blood which can cause a difficiency or virus with all these symptoms

My brother is a hemopheliac which means that he does not produce enough platelets, so he bruises and bleeds very easily. That could be a possibility, although in women it is much more rare. It could also be anemia. A simple blood test can be done to find out what is going on, and thankfully for both of these diagnoses there are treatments. Don't worry too much until the blood results come back. Make sure and be honest with her doctor about nutrition and activity. Sometimes what you eat can thin your blood and cause bruising, especially if you are anemic. Usually its foods like leafy green vegetables. Good Luck.
