A pain in my chest?!

Question: Sometimes I get this pain in my chest, I can't really describe it but sometimes it hurts so bad that I can't move much for a few minutes. It always goes away but it worries me. It happens every now and then. I'm a healthy 13 year old girl. It hurts like around the top of the right side of my chest. Is it normal? Should I have it checked?

Hello, I think I know what you are talking about. I used to get the same thing frequently. It's an intense pain in your chest that comes out of nowhere....you have to freeze for the time that it's there....I usually held my breath until it was gone....and then it just disappears.... it always felt like my "heart was hurting"

I experienced this pain often when I was a teenager. Now I am in my twenties and I experience it once in a while. I finally found a doctor that gave me an explanation that makes sense. Some people's rib bones will at times poke into your chest muscles (the doctor explained it better.) This is not a serious condition, but when you are a teen and growing it occurs more often. Talk to your doctor and see what she says about it, but you're probably ok.

i know exactly what your talking about ! i went to the doctors for this, and she said that sometimes your chest can just get inflamed, for no reason at all, and that this happens quite often in teenage girls [i'm 15] and it can stay for however long [she gave an example of 2 months] then one day it will just be gone and you wont have it anymore, unless it becomes inflamed again. and you can help the pain by taking some ibeprofen, and put some ice on it. but no worriess !
