Help -- Medical question this is for real!!!?!

Question: So, I have a metal plate in my wrist from an injury a few years back. I was playing with my cat and he bit me hard on my wrist and when he did he pushed a vein up against the metal plate and it tore the vein. THere is not much area between the vein and the metal plate -- so it rubbed hard. The cat did not break skin when he bit but instantly my wrist and hand swelled up huge. It turned bright blue and was very sore -- I could not even move my fingers -- this morning it is swollen and very bruised. Should I be concerned? How long does it take for a vein to heal itself?

Sounds like your cat hit the radial nerve that runs into your hand, put ice on it and go check with your Dr. to make sure that no other damage has been done or will occur. The swelling is an automatic defense our bodies have to protect an injured area, the vein, depending on how bad the tear is, should heal itself with in hours, if not a day or two - ( veinapuncture/brusing),hope all turns out well.

Be concerned. Go to a doctor IMMEDIATELY. Veins hitting plates are not good things, especially if it's at the level of paralysis you described.

You will be fine...
