keep bsy to take ur mind off it.....or just keep thinking about the most important thing in ur life whether it is family, girlfriend, wife, dog, whatever it may be...just keep thinking about it and use it as motivation to not lite up again because im sure they want to see u live as long as possible and seein u healthy!!!!! i think this is the best way rather then trying all the gums, patches, shots, etc. you can do it free willingly!!!!!!!!!!! good luck n i kno i dnt kno u but im proud to see u quit!!!!!

do it slowly ... first dont smoke for a day , then in a wile for 2 days and so on , until you can stop smoking for a week... so you can decide if you want to start smoking again... worked fine with me

Whenever you feel like smoking... chew a gum!

chew gum... go for a walk instead of "getting some air" (aka smoking a cig)

good luck

Stop smoking and take some kind of chewing gum

Eat Sunflower seeds or chew on a straw

Everytime you are craving chew on a piece of gum, or get a jolly rancher! Find things to keep your hands busy! That's the trick! Good luck!

chew gum...or smoke pot instead. haha

well this is gonna sound weird but here it goes......work out a lot and masturbate. works for me and i havn`t had 1 in3 months now

exercise. It's the only thing that worked for me.

chew gum and don't think about it and drink water

go find someting to do i find keeping my hands busy helps. go tidy a cupboard

Well quitting cold turkey might not work for you. You might be able to go a few days but the cravings may become so bad that you can't handle it. That's why quitting smoking is a billion-dollar industry (from smoking patches and Nicorette to prescription drugs). I'd try easing off, like smoking one less cigarette a day until you don't need them anymore. Going gradually still isn't easy, but you have a better chance of success.

Let your friends and family know what you're trying to do--they will help motivate you. Go see your doctor and he/she may be able to recommend something. Take it one day at a time and if you slip up, don't give up.

Staying busy - chantex really works too.

Take a brisk walk for ten mins.

Brush your teeth (so you won't want to mix the taste).

Do something for ten minutes or tell yourself to wait ten minutes and see if you still want to smoke. Your craving will hopefully subside by then.

good luck
I have failed several times. The only way I can apparently quit smoking is to get pregnant. But I then start up again soon after baby arrives. I wish I knew what it was that enables me to quit cold turkey when pregnant without cravings.
Again, good luck.

If you keep telling yourself you can have one in a minute or when you are done with whatever task you are on. That way, you aren't denying yourself, you are just postponing it. Although you never get to have it. It helped me anyway. Also I pseudo smoke. When I'm around my friends I just hold an unlit cigarette.

Coping with Cigarette Cravings after You Quit Smoking::

Craving for a puff of cigarette after you quit smoking is a temptation harder to resist than the devil's offer of apple in the Garden of Eden. Cigarette craving is a phenomenon difficult to defy, and destructive to the point of destroying the minutely worked out, elaborate quit smoking plans. Well, how do you manage this craving for a drag of the unholy smoke?

Smokers need to understand that once nicotine addiction has set into their lives to the extent of making them nicotine dependant, cigarette cravings would be their most regular visitor, turning up to them day in and day out. The craving would nag you no ends like a door-to-door sales guy, offering you his wares. These are testing times; the puff you take when you succumb to your craving can mar your whole-hearted effort to give up smoking.

But remember, cigarette cravings come and go. The temptation may be strong, but if you can bear it for those few taxing moments, the craving would pass. And you can emerge a winner. Here are some practical plans that can play a decisive role in coping with cigarette cravings:

Remind Yourself the Reasons to Quit: Constantly keep focusing on the reasons behind your decision to quit smoking, be it health gains, financial matters, improved self-esteem etc.

Sidetrack Yourself: Try getting yourself busy with other things, like cooking, solving a puzzle, or chatting up with a friend till the craving goes off.

Stay Active: Start indulging yourself in games and sports; learn yoga, keep up a habit of jogging or running in the park.

Drink Gallons of Water: When the craving comes, help yourself to a large glass of cold water. The hydration can lessen the intensity of nicotine withdrawal symptom.

Brush Your Teeth: The clean feeling you get after brushing may help you keep away from the cigarette craving for the moment.

Use an Oral Alternative: Always keep an oral substitute like mint or candy beside you. You can pop them when you experience the urge to smoke

Learn to Relax: Try reading a book, meditating, or take a refreshing bath to help you stay calm and cool.

Keep off the Smoking Environment: A change of environment or avoiding a place where you are prone to smoking may do you good at times.

Reward Yourself: Encouraging and rewarding yourself for every battle won against smoking can enhance your chances to stay free of nicotine cravings

I heard that you should chew on raw carrots or celery sticks...this way you got the physical cravings covered......take a brisk walk and or do deep breathing to work out the mental cravings...have you tried hypnosis? I heard that works for some.......

My cousin wanted to quit when she decided to get pregnant, and she said what helped her was sucking on lollipops. Of course, if you're not looking to rot your teeth, chewing gum is the next best thing. Go for a walk, do something you enjoy...keep yourself and your hands busy!

Picture yourself coughing up blood and then having a stroke at the same time.

See your Doctor! Have him prescribe "chantix" for you. I was a smoker for nearly 50 years! Tried everything! Patches, Zyban, inhalers, gum, hypnotherapy, and most anything else you could come up with and was totally unsuccessful, until I did the Chantix! I've been smoke free since July 31, 2007!

I might add that it is very expensive, if your insurance doesn't cover some of the cost.
