Be very supportive. And be ready for a totally different boy friend for awhile. All the people that I have known, be it close friend or just an acquaintance, find that 'stopping' is a lot easier talked about than actually doing. Getting the advice from a physician is probably the best. Patches, and other sides may or may not work. Determination, and will power are the two main ingredients, but having someone to totally back you up on this decision is of great help...Doctors are actually supposed to be able to help though, so I'd suggest asking your boyfriend if he'd be interested in talking to a professional about it...

Tell him strictly that you'll stop conversing with him if he continues with those uncouth habits,he is making himself liable to a big list of health problems. You ask him to consult any specialist in medicine. They would elaborate the manner in which smoking, drinking spoil various ( almost all ) organs in the body.

Get a new boyfriend

Nicobate gum - I've heard nothing but good things about it or try some therapudic nicotene

The main thing to stop smoking is sheer WILLPOWER, patches can help with the cravings, he could always seek advice from the NHS stop smoking site click on this link for more info

good luck

My husband recently quit as well. He started out by cutting down slowly. He avoided smoking at the same time every day so he could break any routine he had. He also started sucking on lollipops (like dum-dums), that helped with the oral fixation. Then whenever he got a craving he would get on the stationary bike for a few minutes, so he substituted a bad habit with a good one.

It's been 2 months now since his last one and he's doing great.

Good luck to him!

Tell him that everytime he wants to smoke, take a peppermints candy or a bubble gum instead. But make sure that he really serious to stop smoking.

i like your idea of where to put the patches. for my sins i smoke BIG BUT there is nothing in this word that will make a person stop other than there own will power. however what i have found very helpfull in stopping is a pipe aaaaahhhhh
i know but there such a newsence and taist so horrible that---i am down to the eqivalent of one *** a day. the pipe just gives me the physical habbit and the nicotine that smoking DID. good luck but humans being as we are push him to hard and he will smoke more cos it sounds like he happy smoking
