Ahh! Tired of Smoking! Best way to quit?!

Question: I've been smoking for 4 years. I really want to quit. But when I say I'm going to I find myself buying another PACK! It's more of a habit than an addiction for me. I love my cigarette breaks!

How did you quit? Do you have any tips for me? I've tried the patch, gum and cold turkey. They didn't work to well. Please, I want to hear from people who have kicked the habit.

I know the road i'm going down, I'd rather take a detour before I run into a dead end!

It is great to hear that you are tired of the habit, and the answer is right there in your question, you do want to quit!!!! And you will !! I have quit many years ago, very much like you tried and failed, and kept on trying, I too kept buying another pack every time I smelled smoke. What actually worked for me was the cutting down one cigarette at a time until I was down to to 3 cigarettes a day after meals. most of the nicotine was out of my system, by then and it really was no big deal to forget the 3 cigarettes a day. The habit of having a break and what to do with the hands that are used to holding the cigarette needs to be replaced. Type, any kind of hobby done with hands painting playing the piano or other instrument woodworking etc. .Plan something for that break, whatever it is it should not be coffee it goes to well with smoking. A walk is much healthier, and include breathing, learn about different kinds of breaths one can take. Breathe in and out slowly.any kind of exercises will release some tension and anxiety before you know it you will be smoke free and will have overcome the habit or the addiction. Reward yourself along the way, and think of what you will be doing with the money you will not be spending on smoking. Is it a new watch, a ring or a new wallet ? This will be the best thing you have done for yourself and your health, as well as your family. I know you will be smoke free, my best wishes for success .

I know you tried cold turkey...but thats the best way.... dont give in to it, your stronger than that.... just go cold turkey and pick up something else ( cause if you dont, you'll fall back into it again ) like video games, watching movies, and other stuff that doesnt make you think...

Best way to quit a smoking habit is to join a health club SO some time later u feel that due to smoking your stamina is not rising but its just lowing down so u will quit smoking
You have to also know that cigarette got 4,700 chemical compound and 85 percent of lung cancer smoking is associated with cancers, amongst other, the mouth, stomach and kidneys.

I started reading a book last week called 'Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking'. About 2/3s of the way through I lost the desire to smoke. I havent had a cigarette in over 4 days and am quite confident that I wont smoke. Give it a shot. The author, who is also an ex smoker, says his approach has about a 90% success rate. Good luck.
