Yes, I have an aunt that always thinks she is sick with something. If your sick she wants to know your symptoms so she can get it. She will have all your same symptoms before your thru talking. It's a shame to say it but she should have her picture and name next to the definition of the word hypochondriac.

I have an ex-wife that over a period of 16 years she thought she had every ailment known to man. If it wasn't brain cancer it was COPD, or whatever the newest illness on the news reports. Thank God she is now married to another hypochondriac and they get along just fine with their imagined medical issues and I am happy to live with a spine injury alone!

When I was a little kid, I was the worst! When they did a scabies test in school, I was so convinced that I had scabies, that I actually developed the rash and itch associated with it. The doctor could not figure where the rash and itch came from. She prescribed and "antibiotic" for it and within 24 hours I was almost "cured." My mother told me a few years back that they had just given me a sugar pill and nothing else! Now I am a diabetic, but refuse to go to the doctor unless I am actually forced to. (By forced I mean the hubby has to call the ambulance to get me to go.) I am no longer a hypochondriac!

My aunt is a massive hypochondriac and I think a little Munchaseaun's as well.
She LOVES the Doctor AND even more the hospital.
She only needs a small cough and she's off to the Doctor's who she tells just how sick she is. Sometimes she will actually cause herself to become worse by something like sitting outside in the cold, smoking, almost naked just out of the shower.
Of course her Doctor admits her straight to hopsital "Just to be safe."

In Australia the more people you get in small town hospital beds and the longer they stay the more Government funding they get.
I am convinced she alone has just about paid for the whole new ward.
The average stay at this hospital is 10 days! For a cold!

Of course that is not long enough for my Aunt so she will come home only to get worse. And back she goes again.

She was a Type 2 Diabetic who NEVER ate what she was told and lived on junk food, Coke and never excercised. A few years later she developed Type 1 Diabetes. She still NEVER tests her BGL's sowhen she does they are sky high and she needs another hospital admission.

See that's a little more than just Hypochondria.
She's doing it on purpose.
But she does also seem to get the most up-to-date illnesses.
It drives me balmy!

I hate to admit it but I am, I dont mean to be its not something I want to be, right now I'm debating weather or not I have tounge cancer, I'm very scard to see the doctor, when I go through these episodes I end up with a massive anxiety/panic attack. I'm just not sure how to stop thinking this way.
