I took my stitches out to early?!

Question: hello,
i got bit by a dog about 8 days ago and had two stitches put in two different parts of my hand. so in total four stitches.
two were inbetween my fingers and two on top part of my hand near my thumb.
one stitch on the top of my hand came undone so i jusy pulled it out and one inbetween my fingers was really itchy so i cut that one out.
should i take the pther two out?
they don;t seem to be completely healed but are not bleeding or any thing like that.
and are the wounds suppose to be so itchy?
it has been 8 days!!!

You were supposed to follow the directions they gave you when you left the hospital! you should have gone back a few days later for them to check for infection. and then about seven to ten days later for suture removal. DEFINITELY go back to get it looked at because it should be mostly healed by now.
Also do you know the dog that bit you? if not you should consider getting a rabies shot.
(and if you haven't had it recently either- a tetanus shot.

yes. if it itches, it's healing.

It is suppose to itch. If you take the stitches out too early, you will be more likely to have a nastly scar. If you leave them in, there will be less of a scar. I would wait 2 weeks (from when you got them) before taking them out.

DONT!!! i was in a car crash and busted my face up with the windsheild... i took the 60 stitches out of my face 5 days too early and now i have red streaks where the stiches were...its just your hand but at least it aint your face. i took mine out because they were itchy... i wish i didnt

Assuming you didn't drag some infectious agent into the wound by removing the stitches without applying a disinfectant to them first, you should be okay.

Just go easy on the wound - scar tissue gets weaker after about a week, but it will eventually will get stronger (which is probably when they would have removed them)
