My hips feel crooked and it hurts when I run, what's wrong?!

Question: I know it's not scoliosis, because the doctors checked about 6 months ago. I think my hips are crooked, because my right hip seems to stick out more. And when I jog it starts to hurt. My right, lower back also hurts often. I usually slouch when I am standing/walking, and am usually hunched when sitting. What could be the problem?

It sounds like one of the posterior sacroiliac joints in your lower back is out of alignment. These joints are located where your sacrum and your ilium join and the landmark for finding these on your lower back is the little two dimples on the small of your back. I am pretty sure if you were to push on them now you would yell ouch. Also your hips bones in front will be tender if pushed on. There is a pretty simple way to adjust these joints once you have been shown how by a physical therapist but I am not comfortable telling you how on Yahoo answers. My suggestion here is to go to a reputable physical therapist and tell them that you suspect that your PSI joints are out of alignment. They will probably have you lie on your back and check your leg length as part of their diagnosistic procedure. Usually one leg will measure longer than the other (you aren't imagining this).
Some simple manipulations done while you are on your back on a table will put things to right. The therapist may also use heat and ultrasound which will feel just wonderful to your sore back. While you are getting adjusted ask the PT what you can do to avoid reinjuring yourself. In my case I caused the initial injury by a hard fall on one side of my butt while pregnant which knocked one side of my hips way off.
Once I was fixed up by my marvelous PT I had to be careful for a while when getting in and out of cars so I did not recreate the motion that knocked that joint out of alignment.
I hope that this information has helped. Get in as soon as possible as this won't get better on it's own.
Take care, hope you feel better soon.

One of my friends had that exact problem. She got it checked out and they told her that she had two vertebre out of place, and they were pinching a few nerves. She went to a chiropractor and they were able to fix it.
