My fingernails?!

Question: like, my fingernails have indents in them.
like ridges. all of them. and this didn't just occur, it's been FOREVER.
my mom said it might be because i'm not getting a certain vitamin?
does anyone know what this is caused from?

btw, i don't paint my nails or get them done or anything.

Vertical ridges that appear on the nail can indicate disorders as simple as iron deficiency, poor absorption of vitamins and nutrients:

one of which is the B vitamins. Vitamin B is needed for strengthening, while vitamin B12 also strengthens while promoting normal nail growth and healthy coloring.

Vitamin C is another necessary vitamin. Adequate intake can help prevent hang nails and swelling of nail tissue, and a frequent occurance of either of these symptoms is a good indication of a deficiency.

The best way to assure yourself of healthy nails is to eat a well balanced diet. You'll need plenty of protein as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Sufficient water intake is also important, for as well as keeping the rest of you healthy it provides moisture for nails. If you feel you are still not getting enough essential vitamins and minerals it is recommended that you take a comprehensive supplement

yeah its probably from not enough calcium or iron in your diet just eat more veggies and dairy.

take prenatals...I know it sounds bad but they help with nail stength, etc... If your fingernails has always had indents that that is normal for you. Eat protien

you have nails like mine, they also have a lot of ridges in them. if you mix one part milk and one part water and soak your nails in it for 15 minutes everyday it should go away, but if it doesnt then you can but cuticle oil and rub in on everyday and it will really help your nails.

If they are ridges that go in a vertical (up and down) direction, they are natural and can be smoothed out with a buffing block, I think it's called.
If they go horizontally, I have those too. I guess they are just natural, and wouldn't worry about them. I don't know how to get rid of them, but they aren't a big deal.

I hope I helped! : >

P.S. I have a healthy diet, too, so I don't think its because of the vitamin.
