Try putting a little olive oil in it.
Best get someone to do it for you though as it's a bit tricky to do yourself.

When I posted my reply I didn't know you'd tried olive oil.
Being made to wait that long for an appointment to have your ear syringed goes to show the state of our health service.
I know it's maddening, but whatever you do, don't try sticking anything in your ear. It could lead to permanent damage.

Try a few drops of olive oil in your ear to soften the wax. Don't poke anything in there because you'll just end up pushing the wax further into the ear canal, also risking infection. You could go to the chemist and get something like Otex which contains hydrogen peroxide and a softener. Good luck, I know it's annoying cos I've had the same problems myself.

Go to your local A&E out of hours and tell them you can't sleep and can't rest because it's so uncomfortable. If not go privately to an Ear ; nose & throat specialist who will sort it out in a jiffy,,,

Get cooking oil, lay your opposite ear on a table and drop about 3-4 drops into the bad ear.
stay in that position for about 5 mins, you should feel the oil go in.
after, rest cotton wool on the ear to stop drips coming out,
this will soften the wax and make it easier to come out on its own - maybe in the bath - sometimes instantly

gee, well, you might as well just put a drop of olive-oil on it, then go to A&E

What about going to the chemist and seeing if they have an over the counter remedy for it?

Go to an ear, nose and throat doctor, they have specialize tools to take car of this quickly. Do not let just anyone play around in your ear. And never put anything in your ear. MY ear nose and throat doctor said those remedies cause many infections, like what I did and have helped put his children through college.

Having had problems with my ears I understand what you are going through.
