Lyrica for Nerve Damage?!?!
Question: After an auto accident where i fractured my hip and pelvis, along with many other bones, I was left with nerve damage and severe pain. I was put on Vicoden, Motrin 800 and many others that worked for the time being. Now the Dr. has prescribed Lyrica for Nerve Damage. I have read some articles and previous questions on here and I am a bit concerned with having the Rx filled. Anyone who is taking Lyrica or has previous knowledge of it, help please!!

I took Lyrica for around 6 months, and then weened off of it because I didn't have need for it (my spinal cord stimulator was providing me with relief so I didn't need it), but I am currently going back on Lyrica (since my spinal cord stimulator has failed). Weight gain is a possible side effect though most people don't suffer with a serious weight gain problem with Lyrica. I am able to swim regularly so I have not had any side effects of weight gain, though most people I know (who aren't active) don't suffer serious weight gain problems with Lyrica. My main side effects have been tiredness, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating for long periods of time. I haven't had any pain relief (I have been taking Lyrica for a neurological condition called RSD/CRPS, not nerve damage, though they believe I may have some nerve damage), but I am willing to try taking Lyrica again to see if I can get any pain relief since my pain is typically so severe. I know many people who have had great benefits from Lyrica, which have greatly out weighted the side effects. This link has some good information about Lyrica http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-93965-Ly... Good luck!
OMG, i took it before it came on the market. They've had it in Europe for 10 years. It is an awesome drug that works well on nerve damage, i have spinal damage. Well, the bad thing is, i gained 3lbs in 2 days and 10lbs in one week. My hands swelled, i felt drunk and it just was a plain bummer. Yes, try it. But all those side effects they tell you on tv, i had all but one. i'm also very sensitive to drugs. Lyrcia is great if you can tolerate it. Good luck. F.Y.I. i researched the web and found it and my pain doc prescribed it. That was 2 years ago, and their just advertising now?
