I'm REALLY worried about my mum?!

Question: My mom is such a happy person all the time, and she rarely complains. She just likes to have fun. Well, for the last few weeks her mouth has been bothering her. She says that it's not her tooth, it's just like in the root of her mouth. Like an aching pain. At 3, 4 in the morning, I'll hear her walking around the house because she's in excruciating pain and can't sleep. She's seen the dentist and the ear, nose, and throat specialist, and they've been no help. She's been put on muscle relaxers, pain killers, ibuprofen prescriptions, even advil, and it's given her no relief. Today she just like stayed in bed trying to sleep because it was hurting so bad(which she never does). It just kind of comes and goes, with no pattern. It can be there all day, or come for an our and leave. Has this happened to anyone else before? What should she do? I can't stand to see my outgoing mom in so much pain. She doesn't have any other problems. She's 43 and healthy.

First of all I'm sure your Mom is very proud of you. Not every young person cares enough about their Mom to try to help them find an answer to a health problem. Here are the best links I know of that may be able to help you. All you have to do is click on them and they will give you good, free, information from medical professionals

http://symptoms.webmd.com
http://www.revolutionhealth.com/?s_kwcid...

If these links don't help you then I'm sure someone on YA will be able to give you some information that will. Just remember that your Mom's health deserves more consideration than what just anyone with a computer and Yahoo may give. That's why doctors make the big bucks.

ps. I bet your Mom would feel a little better just knowing that her child loves her enough to care the way you obviously do. God bless you.

I would suggest she go from doctor to doctor until the proper assessment comes out, it usually takes lots of doctors to find the correct one, no matter what the problem, in SOOO many people I know.

Do not lose hope, even if nothing seems wrong, find the next physician.

look up fibromyalgia. it could be a cause for the pain.

It could be several things. 1 - TMJ- but usually a dentist will catch this one. 2 - Trigeminal neuralgia or 3- atypical facial pain

Likely it is atypical facial pain, the symptoms fit. I have trigeminal neuralgia, but the pattern is less sporadic. She needs to go to a Neurologist to start, there are medications to help control this pain. She can also go to a Pain Clinic and get nerve blocks in her head, I do this, along with medication, but sometimes the blocks take care of it and medication is not needed.

Gentle Message to help the fascia under the skin and around the muscles is helpful.

Have you ever gotten what they call a charlie horse in your leg? It feels like this somewhat. The muscles cramp and do not let go with atypical pain sometimes because the nerves are sort of short circuited. You have to be careful though, light touch with this condition can hurt very badly!

Get her to go to a Pain Clinic, they are usually within the hospitals

Don't know anything about your mom what she can do other than go from doctor to doctor tell she finds the answer. But I do know that you are a wonderful daughter, and she is so lucky to have you. God bless you.
