I am in the army, on leave and hurt my knee. Where can I go to get medical help?!

Question: You can go to the nearest Base Hospital or any Emergency Room to get it checked out. Even your old Family Doctor could check it out for you. Have you done anything to make it feel better? Ice for the first 48-72 hours usually helps a lot. You have to leave it on for 20-30 min at a time, but you can do this all day. Prop up your leg to reduce swelling. There's an mnemonic to remind you what you have to do. It's called ICES.
Ice the injury, Compress, use an ace wrap to keep swelling down, Elevate the extremity and Splint in the position of comfort.
I almost forgot. Some VA Hospitals have Emergency Rooms, so you could probably go there. If you happen to have a phone number for your squad leader you can call them for advice too.
Good Luck. Hope its nothing serious.
