My husband is been using percocet because of a injury.?!

Question: My husband had a work-related injury over a year ago and hurt his neck. He has been using percocet this whole entire time. He is still in great amount of pain. His worksmen comp has stopped.. but we are going to court for it. The issue is .. he hasn't been sleeping through the night lately. He wakes up because he hurts, and then can't go back to sleep until a few hours later when his pills start to make him sleepy). It's driving us BOTH crazy. He can't really talk to his doctor, because of the worksmen comp issue right now. Is there anything we can do to make him sleep better? He is afraid of mixing his pills with sleeping pills.

Thanks

The formed pillows are great for sleeping in a spinal friendly manner. I would also question the use of Percocet for so long. As you can't go to the doctor due to the Work Come issue, I would call whoever prescribed the medication and see if melatonin (over the counter) could be of any help. Relaxation in a bathtub before bed is helpful to release the muscles that tighten throughout the day - one of the "bubble mat" tub spa's may help too. I had a broken back and it was awesome. Some people suggest heating pads but the risk of burning his skin is great - the microwave heat sacks are wonderful and stay warm for a LONG time. Correct positioning in the bed may also have an impact on his sleep amounts and quality. Have you done any massage to the head - neck - back area before sleeping too? Drinking pleanty of water after massage is important for the body to rid itself of imputities too. I hope something here will help - I have walked a mile in his shoes and they hurt! Does he take any NSAID's along with the Percocet? Advil, motrin, Aleve, etc may help but he should not take them for a prolonged time due to the possibility of stomach lining irritation. When he can go back to the doctor, question the length of time he has been on the Percocet, it is an addictive drug and it seems he has been on it too long. One of the problems with this drug is that he can develop a tolerance to it and need to take more to stop the pain - too many can damage his liver and or depress the respiratory system and lead to death. This is a narcotic and should be used only in moderation. I know where he is coming from though, been there and done that. Good luck.

Maybe this will wok,my dad broke his neck a couple years before I was born and he said tha it hurt him for over 2 years after it happened..He's said that if you get one of those bath pillows or at easta few soft warm rags behind his head and for him to relax in the hot water and it should help with some of the pain.Other wise I'm not sure,I would say doctor but maybe you can goto the er and they can get him in and he can tell them the situation and aybe they will tell him something to do..I can't really think of anything else.I hop I helped..I hope he feels better.

Tell him to try Diazepam. Will relax him, take care of the pain and put him to sleep
