Have you used Wellbutrin to quit smoking?!

Question: i really don't think I can do this on my own and Chantix is not covered by my insurance.

Answers: i really don't think I can do this on my own and Chantix is not covered by my insurance.

I just quit last Sunday. I used the gum and it really doesn't work. But you have to want to quit. I am still not smoking even though the gum isn't working because I feel so much better without having to light up every hour or so. Good Luck with quiting its the best thing you could do

Wellbutrin (Zyban) isn't going to make you wake up one day and just not smoke. You have to really want to.

After a few weeks of taking Wellbutrin, you may notice that you are smoking less because you are not really craving it as much. It is up to you to actually stop. You won't get sick if you take the Wellbutrin and still smoke. It just lessens your cravings and makes the withdrawal more bearable.

EDIT...

One more thing. Insurance usually will only cover this if you have a diagnosis of depression. They tend to not cover it for smoking cessation. (go figure, if you quit, you'd be healthier, resulting in lower health care costs in the long run. You'd think that they'd want you to be healthier to cut the future costs of illnesses related to smoking. Huh?)

I tried Wellbutrin to quit a few years ago. I had to stop taking it as it made my head a bit fuzzy. I felt like I couldn't focus on anything. Your best bet: Cold Turkey- make the decision and just stop. It's tough and feels crappy and you'll cough your head off, but after a week, it's all downhill. Good luck to you becoming smokefree!

I tried it and it didn't work for me. However I did quit successfully with Commit Lozenges.

My sister did...unfortunately that caused her to gain 50 pounds...

If it's not one tang...it's anudder...

I did...for the same reason with insurance.

It helped a lot and made smoking taste like crap. Unfortunately, I was extremely happy for a couple days...followed by a complete feeling of numbness to any emotion whatsoever... followed by a few weeks of suicidal depression.

I don't think the doctor should have given me this. I stopped taking it and felt normal after a week.

Lozenges work pretty good. I can go a couple months without smoking as long as I have lozenges. But then I can't ween myself off of them...so I start smoking again.

I'm thinking hypnotism is my next option. Unless I have something living inside me...I can't do it either. Good luck to you.
