Ouch- Uncomfortable - Sharp stabbing shocks up the bum!?!

Question: I've experienced a sharp shocking, stab like pain right up my bum, and it sometimes hurts wen i walk or bend down, and is even worse wen i try sit down! i tried expell wind but, nothing. It is so uncomfortable. its like a trapped wind feeling but is so sharp and painfull. i rarely have this just maybe once a blue moon type thing,.. like i've trapped a nerve. Does anyone know what this might be???

im 33 now and used to get that it is nothing, sometimes as i get up it shoots like a pain and i go ouch, then if im in someones company they say whats wrong of course i dont tell them, i just say oh nothing.

do u suffer from wind or constipation too?.
my teenage daughter gets it too, if your about to sit and it shouts stand back up and it goes or sitting and getting up ,the same , it feels like a knife up your jacksy, over with quick and sharp just for that second, or crampy like trapped wind.

It could be a haemaroid or tear in your anal passage. This can cause a sharp stabbing feeling. Try some pile cream and get it into your back passage. If this relieves it, its likely piles.

This is also a sign of bad things too, so get your GP to do an exam - very unlikely though so dont worry too much.

Any sharp pain should been examined by a doctor, quickly. If you need to know what may be at issue, look up info on your bowels. There are a few sites with great info on bowels and intestines --e.g.,CollectiveWizdom.com

If this pain is going down the leg, and feels like somebody set fire to the rear pocket of your pants- then what you likely have is sciatica- the sciatic nerve has been irritated somehow. It can be trapped, yes. There are a few possible remedies you can try. You can try a nice hot bath, hot as you can take it and not feel like a lobster, and deep enough to float the bottom half of you in. You can try a heating pad on the derriere as well- though take care not to burn your tush. You can take ibuprofen to help with the pain. But your best fix is at the chiropractor or Doctor of Osteopathy (a D.O. as opposed to an M.D) They can do a quick manipulation to relieve the nerve, and although it won't make it all go away it will provide a pretty instant relief of the worst of the pain. The rest of the soreness will fade in a few days. Sometimes you can also get a mate to pull on the leg, or to help you roll the legs up over your head (with you lying on your back) and hold it (sort of a backwards rollover??) which will help release a trapped nerve. Meantime, choose thick padded cushions and try to lie on your stomach. It's not likely wind- that passes and moves. And it doesn't hurt in the buns. Sciatica is about the only thing I know that will do that.
