Need help with Insomnia. Am I addicted?!

Question: I have had insomnia for about 20 of my 28 years of life. My mom said she always remembered me that way. I have been taking Ambien for over a year now at 10mg. I have never had any side effects with this medication. It always helps me fall asleep and wake up, 8 hours later, feeling like I got plenty of rest and I go through the day feeling rested and fine. I no longer have the same doctor and my new doctor says it is an addictive drug and wont give it to me. I now cannot sleep again and I have a new daughter I have to care for. 1 hour of sleep a night is what I am running on and I cannot even think straight. I have never had to take more than 10mg a night, never had side effects, so does that make me addicted? What should I do now? He told me to take benadryl and that does not work. Help? Ideas?
