A white shaddow or line on an x-ray is usually an indication of a new or past break in the bone.
As you said you feel down the stairs a year ago injuring your shoulder, I would say if you had x-rays done at the time, either the X-Ray Tech was blind to a break or it was a greenstick fracture.
A greenstick fracture is a very thin fracture and very hard to pick up on x-ray. It sometimes causes hardly any pain also.
But this fracture can heal with a calcium build up making it more sore and more obvious to see on x-ray.

a cyst?

its a ghost. look at me i know

if he was worried he would have sent you for a biopsy and everything str8 away, if hes in no rush dont worry, but of you want professional advice contact nhs direct

I'd ask for a second opinion. Your Dr doesn't sound very good if he's putting you forward for an operation as he "thinks" it's shoulder impingement! Then he's saying he doesn't know what the white shadow is and will have a look when he operates.
A Dr should know! That's the point of them going to University for so long. I certainly wouldn't be letting so unsure be cutting me open!
