there are two things in a blood group:
1) the name - A, *, AB or O, &
2) the + or -
based on this,
+ can never give blood to -
but - can give blood to + (provided the A/*/AB/O match)
AB can receive blood from any other blood group as long as the + or - match.
O can give blood to any group as long as the + or - match
the remaining groups i.e. A and * can give blood in the same group. or to AB
and A or * can receive blood from the same group or O
hence AB+ can receive blood from any blood group
and O- can give blood to any blood group
In short,
A+ ----> A+ or AB+, A- ----> A- or A+ or AB- or AB+
*+----> *+ or AB+, *- ----> *- or *+ or AB- or AB+
AB+ ----> AB+, AB- ----> AB- or AB+
O+ ----> O+, A+, *+, AB+, O- ----> all the groups
AB can give to AB recieve from AB A * & O
A can give to A & AB recieve from A & O
* can give to * & AB recieve from * & O
O can give to A * AB & O recieve from O
