Localized numbness in hind leg after surgical procedure?!

Question: I had an accident when I was in my sophomore years, i was gardening and i accidentally hit my leg with a sharp garden tool, creating a puncture wound..That time, i had to be brought to the ER to get some stiches..after a couple of months and my wound started to heal, i noticed that i didn't feel a certain portion of my hind leg, in the region of where i had my wound and the numbness runs vertically down to my little toe. I'm now, 30 years old and i still have it..is it possible that I hit a nerve or something when i had the accident? Although, I can walk normally with my affected leg, no pain or any other unusual observation, just the numbness..pls help, just wanna know..thanx!

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on television! That said - it sounds like the puncture might have hit a nerve. Or, it is possible that scar tissue from this wound is putting pressure on a nerve.

Do you have insurance?? Not to be overly rude or anything, but honestly, how much do you value medical advice from Yahoo? Go see your doctor and ask him. If you don't have insurance, I'm sure your town, or an city near yours has clinics you can go to for free, or nearly free, most major cities have them. In the meantime, I wish you the best.
