I sliced my finger to the bone with a sharp knife. Got 5 stitches and the pain i!

Question: I believe i cut my bone because the knife stopped then sawed. The knife is one of those that are made for the chicken plants to cut bones. I got it from my father in law. I am very concerned and they want me to come back to the urgent care clinic. What do I tell them? I lost about a cup and 1/2 of blood. Nothing is working for the pain (motrin, ibuprofen, tylenol, aleve, aspirin, orajel, etc). I don't have any pain meds. Will they help me?

Go back and tell them what you have told us. Tell them you need something for the pain. Or go to a different med center.

They should be able to give you RX pain meds if you need it. They can also do xrays to see if you cut the bone. Which if you did, not sure they can do anything for you.

go back to your doctor and ask for some pain killers.

You tell them you will be right in....

Trust me, you want someone with an idea of what a serious injury looks like, to look at it.

There is a slim chance that they might give you something more powerful for the pain (coedine, etc.). But they will be wary about giving it to you just for a cut because of the high abuse rates.

Yes I'm almost 100% they will give you pain killers. If they don't, you can ask. Explain to them how bad the pain is.

They sometimes use 1-10 scales of pain for pain management in hospitals.

yes, they will help you and give you some pain pills. just go to the doctor, or else you will end up doing some serious damage.

They would probably like to look at it and see if they think it is infected. If so a strong antibiotic would help this and the pain would start to subside.

I cut part way through my finger bone last year and got stitches. They should have given you some hydrocodon for that at the clinic. Just tell them the pain is unbearable and they should give you a prescription for it. It's much stronger than anything OTC.
