Arthritis sufferers out there?!

Question: I have been having this pain in my foot/ankle. I can't seem to extend it (so it is very painful when i walk and try to stretch it out) feels like it is all tensed up. i wrap it in a tensor bandage and that is the only cure. however i cant wear one with my winter boots.) the pain goes through my ankle to my foot and up my leg. it almost feels like a numbing stiffening feeling when i sit. like my leg is going to fall off or something. or theres no circulation.. its weird im just wondering if anyone knows what this could be. i was thinking arthritis because it stiffens up when i sit down. but i really dont know.

I notice in you profile you dance alot in high heels. That could have something to do with it. However, the number one cause of arthritis is trauma. Is there a history of injury to this ankle? It would be most stiff in the morning and in cold weather. Keeping it warm is one of the best treatments. NSAID's help also. If it gets better in the warm weather then you have a good idea what it is.

It does indeed sound like arthritus. Perhaps you need to rethink wearing those heels! High heels throw your center of gravity off and put great strain on bones in the back and feet. Try those 8 hour disposable heating pads.. I have arthritus in my right heel, and I put one of those at the heel of my sock on that foot. It helps! Also, my doctor just put me on a prescription NSAID, and for the first time in several years I can move my fingers well enough to pick up change on the floor... I couldn't do that two months ago. Ask your doctor about it.
