Why is it, that when you can't have something, you want it even more?!

Question: I know this is silly, but it is true. When you aren't allowed to have something, it makes you want it even more. I am having surgery today (02/20) at 11am and like all surgeries, you aren't allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight the night before. It is 12:03 now and usually I wouldn't eat or drink anything this late, but knowing that I'm not allowed to eat or drink has made me so thirsty/hungry its not even funny! I want some water so bad! Ahh. I don't know how I'll make it until 11!

Sorry just wanted to vent. Human nature always surprises me. =]

This is funny, I had surgery about a month a go and went through the same exact thing. It is weird that when we think about something we can make ourselves want it or feel hungry or thirsty when we really aren't!! Human nature is a strange thing. Hope your surgery goes well, you'll be in my prayers! =]

I think it's because you're focusing more on what you can't have. If it were a regular night, you wouldn't be thinking, "I can't have any water". A glass of water wouldn't even be a subject for thought. But, you consciously have to make sure you DON'T have any water (or food), so you're constantly thinking about what you CAN'T have! It's a vicious cycle.

Hope your surgery goes well!

same ole story of the migthy above telling adam not to eat the apple!!! this is in man's nature; to be rebellious. and from that whall come the truth and obeying God. this is why God's forgiveness is so unlimited. he knows that we WILL sin.
