Question about foot pain.?!

Question: I have pain on the outside of my right foot- on my fifth metatarsal. I looked up some information on it and found something called a Jones fracture. My pain is not as painful as a Jones fracture is described but when I step on it the wrong way, it is extremely painful.

What could this be and how can I treat it?

If you haven't trauma to your foot or suffered a severe ankle sprain recently it is hard to see how you would have a fracture. Tendinitis or fasciitis is a possibility especially if you have fallen arches in which case otc orthotics may be of some benefit. When you are not sure an investment in an xray is not a bad idea if only to be reassured there are no bony abnormalities to be concerned about.

If you're feeling something sharp and very uncomfortable you should def. see a doctor. Any kind of severe or debilitating pain should be taken care of immediately, as you don't want any further damage to occur. Hope it feels better!
