Industrial Piercing?!

Question: I want to get a piercing (I'm a guy) and my friends say I'd look good with an Industrial (ear) piercing. I've heard that it's really painful, and takes like 4 months to heal, and has a high risk of infection. I'm not a huge fan of how that sounds - not a big fan of pain/needles.

Part of me doesn't want to get it, but part of me is just like "go for it..you only live once"

Can anyone else with this piercing share their experience?

I have one and also do them. it is very painful and it does take 4ever to heal. infection only happens if you dont care for it. just remember that the cartalidge in your ear does not have it's own blood vessels so by applying heat to the area you can promote healing. keep it clean and moist!! all in all you should go for it, it is only a hole and you can always take it out later. good luck!

My best friend got hers done and she said it's not that painful. I was surprised when I heard she got one because of her low pain tolerance. It took a month or so to heal but it's worth it.

i just asked a very similar question, no answers yet, i'll see how your question goes

good luck =]

if you don't want to do it and your friends said you'd look good with it, I think you have an issue. Who cares what other people say...if you want it go fot it. But don't get it to look good to anyone else. I don't think you should, be yourself

Are you talking about an ear piercing or brain surgery?? because if you're talking about an ear piercing, it's the most painless and nothing procedure you will ever go through. It's just cartilage, relax. Oh, and I have never heard it called an Industrial piercing! where did you even hear that?

consider getting a regular stud and then periodically stretching the hole for a bigger gauge, but you also have to consider, if you take a piercing like that out it looks droopy, like a wrinkled dried old ****h*** when its shrivling up healing and stuff...

Talk to a piercing artist.

well iv had alot of pericings done and when i had my ears done they was done with a self pericin earing and pushed straight through fair enough which does hurt as u have 2 go throu 2 stages but with gettin it done at a salon etc wats the scarest part is the sound of the ear pericin gun its the click thats freaks u out but as of the pain its very minimal

go 4 i say as u said u only live once

My piercing took 10 and 16 months to heal. Industrials usually take anywhere from 6 months to 2 yrs to heal. 4 months would be if you are EXTREMELY lucky. And yes it was pretty painful. Going thru and getting pierced is nothing compared to the healing. It will hurt to the touch. Its annoying not to be able to sleep or lay on that side ever. If it is pierced at a bad angle or is not properly cleaned (twice a day until healed with antibacterial soap and 5-10 min sea salt soaks), bumps can form and can be difficult to get rid of. If it is properly taken care of you should not get infected, but it can still become irritable which is often mistaken for an infection.
My point is, if you are not in love with this piercing and really want it, don't go thru with it. I love my industrial, but if I had known what I had to go thru to get it to finally heal, I would have never have gotten it.
