I have a Bulged disc?!

Question: I have been going to the chiropractor for the last week. I do feel a bit better, but it gets worse at night....so I went to the walk-in clinic yesterday (because I couldnt get an appt with my regular dr. until next Monday) because of pain. THEY WERE sooo rude. She acted like I was only their for pain meds. I even had copies of my xray report, and chiropractor findings. UHHH...I was so frustrated. Then she said she would give me a small amount of pain meds, just to get me thru. She prescribed Hydrocodone 500 mg #20. THIS is not going to get me thru. What do they usually prescribe for a BULGED DISC/pinched nerve?? anyone have this same issue? It doesnt seem to be working that great..(pain meds)

I have a fully blown out disc and a partially torn disc in my lower back. Have had it since 1995. Have had an MRI and was told I'd be better off managing the pain and rehabilitating than having back surgery. I use Skelaxin and always have a Medrol pack on standby if it goes out. The only pain meds I've ever used is Doans or xtra strength aspirin. My father is a chiro so I get adjusted by him every now and then but I can tell you this. My dad has actually aggravated my condition before so be careful with the types of movements you allow the chiro to perform on you. I feel for you my friend. Theres nothing quite like severe back pain. And people who have never experienced it have no idea how debilitating it is. BTW - You may want to try massage.

ICE, ICE ICE. ice pack will help a little

I have had a herniated disc many times....just found out what it was recently. I got ZERO medication for it. its hard to medicate a nerve problem...especially when it is sent directly to your brain. I went to physiotherapy, and it worked wonders!!!!! They give you stretching activities to do to help it get better, then ones to strengthen your back to avoid it later on. I did traction to help relieve the pain (helps put the disc back to where it should be by stretching your spine slightly). They said that "wet heat" works best (hot water bottles, not electric heat pad).

You should go see a physiotherapist, especially if you are covered for one

Can they diagnose a disc problem with a x-ray report? I had both a x-ray and MRI but the MRI showed the prolapsed disc sitting on the nerve roots. Therefore I am on Fentanyl Patches. Likewise to assist with the nerve pain I take Lyrica, along with a muscle relaxant. Hope this Helps.
