I did the same thing a couple of years ago. I went to A & E and I was told to try and walk on it before having an X-Ray. Once I had the X-Ray, it just showed a really nasty sprain, so they put a support bandage on it and gave me crutches. They also told me to try and walk on it with the help of the crutches as support, which I did, and when I went back a week later for a check up they said it had healed well because I walked on it.

So chances are the same thing will happen to you, and you have probably just sprained it.

But whatever you do, DON'T tell the doctor what you think you have done, they won't thank you for it.

Don't suggest anything. Just tell the doctor what happened and most likely you will have x-ray's done so that they can rule out fracture, and they might put an air-cast on for stabilization and ice it to reduce swelling.
