Leg cramp? What can I do to make it feel better?!

Question: I just had a basketball game (about 5 hours ago), and I felt fine all through the game. A few minutes after the game ended, I noticed a twinge type feeling in my left calf, up by my knee. It wasn't that bad, but just bothered me a bit. After sitting for an hour or so watching the varsity game, I stood up and my calf started aching/twinging a lot, to the point that it was difficult to walk.

Upon getting home, I put on a heating pad for about a half hour, then let it be for about an hour...I got up again and it was bothering me; once again I put on heat and it's feeling a little better.

So my question is, does this sound like just a leg cramp, or do you think I did something more serious? If it's just a cramp, what should I do to make it feel better? I have practice tomorrow, and my last game of the season on Thursday. Any tips/suggestions are appreciated!

yes, it sounds like regular leg cramps.

Best thing you can do is:
drink a LOT of water...like a full 16 ounces every hour and apply ICE, not heat to the muscle.
Even an advil would help since it is an anti-inflamatory.

Hope it feels better...leg cramps HURT!

I used to get leg cramps, take potassium. be careful not to take too much - but it should help in the future
