Pain in calves so bad girlfriend can't stand or walk.?!

Question: My girlfriend ran at the gym yesterday and today her calves are in extreme pain. As the day has progressed it has gotten even worse and is to the point now that she can barely stand or walk. She's told me that something like this has happened before and that she could barely walk for two months.

I'm worried and plan to take her to a doctor but in the meantime I'm trying to figure out what it could be. I've ruled out shin splints or that her shoes are the issue which leaves me with circulation issues (or other blood vessel related problems) or possibly some form of muscular dystrophy in her leg muscles.

Her legs are not swollen or discolored from what I can tell but she is in a lot of pain. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem so we don't walk to the doctors without any idea what's going on?

May be, and only maybe;
Like me she might have a degenerative spine disorder.
I have spinal stenosis. The spine grows in on itself like rusty water pipes. I pretty much discovered what I suffer, after going through fold up and die HELL.
I go to a Chiropractor,plus a regular Back Surgeon.
Except for the daily after 3:30 p.m. pain in my lower back, then my life has improved with the help of the Chiropractor, and a GREAT DEAL OF EXERCISE AND PATIENCE
I run a farm, so I am NOT a girly girl.
These things happen to the best of us!!!!!!

First of all, you should take her to the doctor.
Second, is she drinking plenty of fluids while excersizing? OR-She could possibly have low potassium levels. Have her Eat a banana, and see if she feels better.

I would stop playing doctor and bring it to the attention of a professional!!
