Eventually it will cause damage to the discs or vertebrae in the neck. Just like jogging causes knee and foot problems. The neck has joints just like other joints in the body and are subject to overuse injuries.

The brain can also be affected. The brain doesn't have much cushioning. Head banging can cause the brain to strike against the skull causing a mild to moderate concussion, which can cause headache due to bruising of the brain tissue. You can also cause a stroke if a blood vessel is weakened and bleeds within the brain. This leads to paralysis on the opposite side of the body from the bleed or resulting clot.

Bottom line: Humans are not designed to bang their heads over long periods.

Recommendation: Don't do it!

If your head falls off, yes

As long as you don't overdo it, I think you'll be fine.

Well..I dont know...you might get whiplash.

That stuff gives me a headache. :[

Yes it can, not to mention repeated trauma to your brain can cause blood clots to form

Of course not! Why would you think HEAD BANGING..would hurt your neck? Just because your head is attached to your neck? Psssh! Naw head bang away <rolls eyes>

headbang with caution

I totally put my neck out of place doing that once...head bang safely!

It depends if you have a spine of a goose. Don't want to become like the dead superman.

Can chickbanging injure my back?
I usually chickbang when I'm listening to well anything, but really hard. Can I still inure my back?

I suggest you play it by ear. If it hurts the next day, then something is wrong, headbanging over a long period of time may give you a permanent pain in the neck.
You could give nodding your head a try.
