I use to get this all the time. The burning on the side of my face was usually always followed by a migraine headache. Migraine headaches can sometimes cause irritation to the nerve endings in the face. Since migraine headaches are usually contained on one side of the head...then the nerves on that side of the face are usually involved and can become inflamed and aggravated. I was told it was nothing to worry about and would be ok once I had my migraine under control. Once I did that...it was usually fine. I could usually tell I was gonna get a migraine from that burning pain in the side of my face. Hope I've helped. However, do not try to self diagnosis yourself. Go to your doctor and tell them what is happening. Take care..

Did this involve flames or a hammer?

go to the doctor

ummm, i don't know how bad it is. but my sister suffered something similar when she touched the seeds of a broken cayen pepper in mexico, then touched her face. it took about half an hour for her to really start feeling the effects. her face turned pinkish, and burned, and she got a headache.

I would look up:

Raynaud's Phenomenon and also vasculitis.

Without any additional information, it is hard to be of more help. Look up the above and compare your symptoms to those mentioned.

Web MD is a good place to start. Hope that helps.
