Sounds like tension and a knot in your shoulder-get a massage. Call around to the massage schools in your area-most have a student massage clinic and you can get a great massage for around $20-$30. You could try heat therapy to relax the muscle, but if it's deep in the tissue it needs to be intense constant heat to be effective.
