Sounds like a pinched nerve. Take about 800 mg of motrin and alternate hot and cold packs every 15-20 minutes with a 15 minute break in between. The drug stores sell a hot pack that straps around any body part for when you sleep. You may need to do this for a couple of days. If by monday you still have the same pain go see your doctor for a stronger antiinflammatory.

You could have aggrivated your sciatic nerve, that type of pain typically comes and goes.

I agree with jaclynf, it does sound like a pinched nerve and the things that she said is the best way to take care of it until you can get in to see a doctor. But, do not wait over long to see doctor, you do not want to mess around with back pain. The only way to know for sure what is happening and how to treat it properly is to seek advice from physician and tests.

It sounds like sciatica which is referred pain from the lumbar (lower) back to the leg on 1 side. You may have a bulging or herniated disc.

Google; mayo clinic>>diseases>>sciatica.

See your MD to get definitive diagnosis. You will probably need a MRI.

I had sciatica 9 years ago & was cured by 2X/week acupuncture for about 2 1/2 mos.

Good luck.

I too agree with jacalnf, You may want to gently stretch . What ever you do ,,DO NOT lift ,Pull Push anything until the pain is gone 100% or you will end up with pain for the rest of your life ! I know this from experience.
