I would totally see a doctor. Poor guy.
There are also some great homepathic treatments by Hylands. Some that help with pain. I'm currently using Calms Forte 4 Kids and it is helping my son sleep great at night.

Please take him to the doctor. I had growing pains when I was young and it was treated as just plain old growing pains. As an adult I have had 3 back operations because it was not growing pains at all--it was major back problems. Take him to a Orthopedic Surgeon for some tests to see what the problem is. I wish someone had taken me many years ago...Let me know if you can how it turns out for your son...

dude tak'em to a doctor

Leah,

You really need to have him see a doctor. It could be something pretty severe.
I have had "growing pains" since I was young, at least that is what my mom called it.
But the doctor actually diagnosed it as RLS (restless leg syndrome), and it can be very painful. I did not have lower back pains so it may not be the same.
When it would flair up I could not fuction because of the pain and forget about falling asleep.
Before I got to the doctor i have been using an over the counter sleep aid called Legatrin which I swear by. It works great for lower body pain. You may take a look at that. It can be hard to find sometimes, try Walgreens.

Anyway, I still recommend you see a doctor, you never know.
Good luck to you and your son,

Every body's different! But go to the Doc and get it checked out. It sounds pretty bad with the limping and all. My Mom would rub my back and legs when I had growing pains. Sometimes all you need is a little TLC. And I don't mean The Learning Chanel.
