What's wrong with my back?!

Question: I've always had problems with chronic mild low back pain...I was hit by a car in my youth and have had problems since. But lately the pain's gotten worse...but the strange thing is, I can still bend over and touch my toes with no pain...but something simple like bending over to spit when I'm brushing my teeth and all hell breaks loose...until I stand up straight again and the pain's gone...is this just a by product of my injury and age (I'm 50) or is something else going on with it now that should be looked into?

Sounds to me like you may have a pinched nerve.I have a pinched nerve and like when I wash dishes, vacuum, brush my teeth, things where Im barely bent over hurts like hell. You should see your doctor.

See a doctor. The two kinds of movement you mention incorporate different aspects of the spine. Sounds like yu may have an injury higher up.

i recently had that problem. i had a pinched nerve, from lifting something and twisting to the left. everytime i bent over slightly or twisted to the left i almost fell over.

i went to a chiropractor and doctor and im all better!!
go to a doctor, and i hope you feel better!

if you are anything like me, the word "doctor" will send me running the other direction! i had a mid back problem, and would not go to a doctor. i had never been to a chiropractor before, but tried it out. thank god i did!!! even though it sounds like your problem may be a little higher up in the spine than mine, you should give it a try! glad i did! if you go to a GOOD chiropractic, he will tell you straight up if he can help you or refer you to the doctor. i know how it feels, it sucks to have a back problem, my chiropractor got me back in shape. good luck

At 50 you are well on your way to DDD Degenerative Disc Disease and Osteoarthritis in the spine. Therefore I would see a Doc, see if you can get a MRI just to rule out disc bulges. If that is ruled out then you need to start to exercise the spine, gain core strength and that will hold all in the correct position. Best of Luck
