Worst injury ever?!

Question: Describe your worst injury ever. How did it feel, how did you heal?

Answers: Describe your worst injury ever. How did it feel, how did you heal?

my worst injuiry would have to be my knee. I twisted my left knee inJune of 2007 playing beach volleyball while going for a low ball... i immediatly felt that something wasnt quite right but beingt he stupid and competitive person that i am i continued to play...that night when i got home my knee looked as though someone had stuck a basketball under it so i iced and elevated my knee and went to bed... the next morning my knee was EVEN more swollen then before and i could barely put any weight on it with out it feeling like it was going to buckle... so i hobbled down to my car and went ot the immediate care center where they did x-rays and then palced my knee in an immobolizer and i was told to be nonweight bearing for 5-7 days and then limit weight bearing until my followup in10 days... the only problem with that was that i was only given off of work for the first 3 days so i had to hobble around work(im an CNA) 16 hours a day when i was SUPPOSED to be non weight bearing... anyway when i went back to the doc my knee was still very tender and swollen so i was sent for an MRI(first of two), which showed a minor tear to my MCL, i was told to remain in the immobolizer for two more weeks until i saw the orthopeadist, at that visit i was sent to PT for 4 weeks and told to continue with the immobolizer for work, and any prolonged standing and walking...
long story short

i have been through 2 MRIs, almost 6 months of PT, 3 cortisone injections, and coirtisone ultrasound... and i am STILL having some problems with pain and instability... my next appoiontment is on March 19(almost 9 months post injury) with the surgeon and we will hopefully be setting a date for some time in April(after competition season is over)

Broken Nail---Glue

I had scolliosis when i was 11, last year.
I dont know how i got it.. ?
I grew out of it.
It was soooo painful!

I fell and cracked my head. The pain was so excruciating and scary that I couldn't even cry, I just felt like screaming. I got stitches.

Having lived a long life without major injury, it has to be my recent rotator cuff injury.
The ligament or tendon broke in a fall. The arm was very weak and I couldn't do much with it.
I had surgery Dec 28th and it's getting better.
I've still got about 12 weeks of rehab to work thru.
I just hurt my foot the other day hopping out of a big 4x4 pickup and landing on a vacuume hose. I can only hobble since. Apparently 50's a dangerous year.

I feel on a staircase and gave myself a compound fracture

I remember being hot and cold and covered with sweat. and thats about it....

Healed fine - I still have what looks like a bruise on my shin - that was almost 20 years ago

Fell through a glass door, severe lacerations to hand and face. Amazingly I felt no pain whatsoever, looked down and was surprised to see blood streaming down my shirt front, and to see the expressions on the faces of bystanders. Pain set in later from my hand [ surgeon had missed a sliver of glass embedded in it ! ]. Healing was 90% within 6 weeks or so, never 'healed 100% as I still have no feeling in half of upper lip due to severed nerves. And, I was sober !!

Severely strained hamstring with tears in it...excruciating pain...could not walk..had to be lifted from floor...could not sit comfortably. Could not drive or work for 10 weeks. Had to use ice packs every hour of every day, had certain exercises I had to do 5 times a day. Had to have physical therapy 3 times a week which included exercises, muscle massage, and ice pack treatments. I was told later that I was very lucky to have recuperated so quickly, because a lot of athletes with this injury don't recuperate for a year!

Osgood Schlatters Disease!!!!! I still have it and it sucks so bad!!!!

auto accident in Nov 2000. had have left arm amputated below the elbow. can't describe the pain before the amputation as I was in shock. the pain after the amputation was unbearable, it's called phantom pain where you feel like a missing body part is still there. the phantom pain and swelling eventually subsided in about 3 months and was eventually fitted with a prosthetic.

Skiing accident - New Years day 2008 - some skiied into me and then skied off - broken knee - still cnt walk - been nearly 8 weeks - in pain and may need an op!
Gutted it was a.............hit and ski!

I'm lucky, the worst I've had is a whiplash injury I got after having a car accident at 75 mph (more luck, there were three of us in the car and we were all able to walk away).
As is normal with whiplash I didn't really feel anything at the time, then woke up the next morning in agony and completely unable to move my head. I then spent the rest of the day in casualty strapped to a bed unable to move a muscle because the doctors thought I may have fractured my neck. I actually think that the neck brace caused more pain than the injury itself! Six months on still in pain, but it could have been a lot worse so I'm counting my blessings.

i was skateboarding down a rocky road and hit a rock and went flying off my board onto glass on the street which cut my left palm open. my wrist on my other hand landed awkwardly and it broke.also both my knees where cut open and locked so i couldnt walk. i went to the hospital and i got 6 stiches for my left hand cast for my right hand and i had to use a wheelchair for the day :/
