Does anyone here have scoliosis? or back pain?!

Question: How do you prevent the pain

Answers: How do you prevent the pain

Lots of people here have it.

To deal with the pain, you should get a referral to a scoliosis specialist who will examine you and make recommendations. If you're still growing and your curve is in the right range, a back brace may be recommended. Other things that could be recommended would be stretching/exercises, PT, pain management, and if your curve is bad enough, surgery.

There are many kinds of pain meds. If one isn't doing it for you, talk to your doctor, tell him how you're taking the meds and how good/bad they're working. Also mention what you're doing that brings on the pain. The doctor should be able to work with you to find a med or combination of meds that will do the job.

Nothing much you can do for it except see a chiropractor or Massage therapist, they wil be able to help tremendously! Good luck

yup I do. I was told mine is minor that I don't need to have anything done. I've never have any back problems until I had surgery done to removed my fibroids and ever since then I've been having some back problems...still nothing related to my scoliosis. I had MRI, xrays, and I was seing a physical therapy for a while but not b/c of my scoliosis, just lower back, muscular related.

I have scoliosis. It's a C curve in 2 different areas on my spine. Usually it doesn't bother me but it does act up occassionally. I work in a factory and lift heavy loads and sometimes it starts to hurt. There is nothing I can do to prevent it because I don't know when the pain will come on. When it does get painful I just use a heating pad and I take 3 aspirin of the 325mg dosage. It helps a lot and usually feel fine the next day.

Yes, I have had it since I was born premature. I have chronic back pain . We used to call it "curvature of the spine.) If I stand or walk on payment or concrete, my back will hurt for several days. It helps me to use a heating pad. my jacuzzi tub and massages are great when you can get one.

My right leg is 1/4" shorter than the left. So the doctors had a special insert to put in the heel of my right shoes and that helped some. Also I do not know about you but my right foot (the shorter one) is almost a half of a size larger than my left. We think it was because when I walk I drop down on the right side.

There are some new corrective measures, including surgery. I would consult a podiatrist and see if he can help or refer you to an orthopedic surgeon that may be able to help alleviate your pain. Otherwise you will be in pain forever, since it does not get better on its own. As you get older, you may have to take medication for pain and that is not good.

I just wish they had known more about it and had more options to correct it so you do not have to go through life without all that pain. Best Wishes and Good Luck in getting help............a fellow sufferer....lol
