Any Nurses here? I have a question about pain killers...?!

Question: I just need to know if this much medicine is bad. I know it's alot...please don't tell me I took too much, I know that already, I just need to know if there could be any side effects.
Ok, well my back went out on me last weekend and have been in pain for a while. Yesterday i really hurt it even more by lifting something too heavy and I was in agonizing pain again. I took 2,000 mg of motrin within a 4 hour period and 1 Alieve 3 hours after that. This morning I took 2 more Alieve and in the afternoon another 1,000mg of Motrin. A couple hours ago I took 1 more Alieve. Will this have any side effects that I should be concerned about? I know it's alot of pain meds but I felt like I couldn't cope without them. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I would avoid the drugs and try topical things such as cold packs, hot baths, icy hot to temporarily numb the area. I know it's not as quick and good as the pills but you are putting yourself at risk. Use these things to get yourself thru unitl it's been ENOUGH time for another dose, and then see your DR as soon as you can drive.

Yeah! You are asking for a stomach ulcer or liver damage. See a Dr if you are in that much pain.
RN

That amount of Motrin and Aleve could cause stomach bleeds, bruising, gums bleeding and nausea- and perhaps some blood cell abnormalties.

Go to a MD. Stop all the NSAIDS!!(the types of drugs your taking)

My friend's daughter died from a tylenol overdose. Now would be a good time to call 911 and get a ride, whether you can walk or not!

Jackmatt is correct. See a doctor before you land in the E.R with a GI bleed or liver failure.

This is way too much anti imflammatory medicine. Taking so much could cause a bleed in your stomach or could actually damage your liver. If you are having this much pain you should see your doctor.

Myself not a nurse. I have pain for almost 2 year and half and of course I took various pain killer stuff.

What you say about the pain you are deal and if the counter pill from drug store doesn't help you for 2 days but do not over dose due as another people say about bleed or stomach either the liver. Please don't think about it. If your pain is bothersome.

Try to work out your back such as using ball or in the pool do help to workout with trainer or therapist.

My advise to see doctor, if that relate with your back pain. Please go go go go see Spinal doctor because I wish I went to doctor relate with spinal within two years ago. The spinal doctor is first page to start to heal your back. Not the inject stuff, or depend pain killer. You will need Lortab or something else that way you don't need taking too much pill you use.

You can ask for relax muscle and then stay at bath with nice hot water and then straight to bed. If thing doesn't improve within 1 week, let doctor know and they will determine to check on pain you were deal with...

Get well soon!
