I would say that it depends upon the severity and how it impacts your life. Not just physically but psychologically too. The choice is of course yours and rests with whether you feel comfortable with things as they are? Obviously if it's medically impacting your internal organs, then having the surgery might be your only option.

As to the surgery itself, again I would state that the procedure used depends upon severity. The main procedure used is minimally invasive. They usually keep you sedated for 1-3 days after surgery. You'd be discharged anywhere between 3-7 days, depending upon how well you're doing. Contact sports are not permitted for 3 months, no heavy lifting for a month, but all other exercise is as tolerated. So if you're doing well then there is not too much you cannot do. From start to finish, the overall recovery time should not be more than 3 months. Also the best outcome of this surgery is on people aged 5-20 years. So if you're in that age group, that would be ideal.
