How do I know if something that's on my big toe is a corn?!

Question: I HATE going to see doctors, but there's something on the bottom of my big toe that hurts like crazy sometimes (especially when I've had shoes on for a while - I'm guessing because of the moisture that builds up?) and other times doesn't bother me at all. I've Googled images of corns and bunions (I don't know what either one of these things actually is), and I know it's not a bunion (by the pics) but am not sure about whether it could be a corn. It's not red or growing or getting worse, so I seriously doubt I managed to get a splinter in it. Anyhow, is there a way I can know without having to go see my doctor? And do over-the-counter treatments work? Also, what causes corns?

Thanks so much, in advance, for any and all answers :)

A corn looks kinda like an inverted cone - you can see it there in your skin.

You probably won't listen :P but you REALLY should see a doctor as corns can be serious. The body doesn't realise the the corn is part of you and the area BENEATH the corn can become ulcerated - not nice.

So be a good little Zilla and go see a doc.

I think corns are caused by pressure. "Dr. Scholes" has OTC stuff.

However, feet can get warts. I've had them on the bottom of my feet and they can hurt like hell! I've had them cut, burned & frozen off. The best thing was "Compound W." Warts are cause by a virus

if you are working most of your time on your feet its kind of hard skin build up ..before you go to bed put a piece of bacon under the toe and wrap with band aid .next morning you will see its softer..because hardness of the skin is tuching to your toe bone.. look like a hardness is very deep thats why is hurting ..only thinks is animal fat makes it softner..please just remember that we are animals too.. so no vazelin or vegi oil will help.... i even use that on my face some times helps my skin get softer takes out the wrinkles..
i also use them on my feets too ......
even the dr.oz said same too on the oprah show ..you see?
