Knee hurting!?!?!

Question: while at work, and no i don;t think it is a work mans comp thing, my knee started hurting. it hurts to put pressure on it once i get up from sitting and while remaining inactive and not moving it for long periods of time. the later side, meaning the part on the outside of my knee, is the most tender. i can no longer pivot on that knee and it hurts to touch it. when i walk it feels like i am unbalanced and uneven while standing on it. it is also lightly brused and also bulges out a little right below my patella, knee cap, on the lateral side. i kind of have an idea what is wrong with it. i just want to see what you all think it is. any info would be helpfull. thanks.

you may have a torn ACL check webmd.com if you have any questions and use their symptom checker, and be specific with everything! go to the hospital because you may need surgery. Also keep resting it because it may be a sprain, and the inactive thing you mentioned may be a patello femoral syndrome. You'll be o.k. just get some medical attention!

Oh, man knees hurt so bad. I have no idea what it could be but until you do, ice it as much as possible. Good luck. Hope it's nothing too serious.

Well for starters you should keep ice on it and keep it propped up. Rember 20 mins on your knee and 20 mins off so you don't get frost bite. Then when you have a chance you should get a brace to put on it. You can also soak it in a hot bath. If none of that works you should go and get it checked out.

Could be a dislocated knee cap. I had one a few years ago (had a fight with a snowbank and lost!) and the doctor told me that it is quite normal that when the kneecap dislocated or when it came back into place, it will crack. So, not only is it dislocated but fractured as well.

Try Advil for pain and swelling. Try ice for swelling too.
