Have you ever been stung by a hornet?!

Question: What differs from a bee sting?

Answers: What differs from a bee sting?

Yes. It hurts about as much as a bee sting.

The main difference is in the type of stinger each critter sports; hornets have a smooth stinger that can be easily retracted from the skin which allows them to either go on their merry way or return for a second round.

Bees, on the other hand, have a barbed stinger. This means the stinger remains lodged in your skin and won't come out until you physically remove it. The stinger is torn from the bee's body, which means the bee can only sting once and the resulting wound is fatal to the bee.

The bee's stinger assembly includes the sac which holds the venom, and the muscles that squeeze the venom out of the sac and into your skin. These muscles continue to contract even after the unit is torn from the bee, assuring as much venom as possible is injected into you.

Usually, both bees & hornets will be happy to leave you alone so long as you do not directly molest them. I've taken many up-close photographs of various species of each and have never been stung, but if you accidentally crush one rest assured it will sting you in an effort to get you to stop hurting it.

no and hopeful i dont

more poisonous. if untreated, leads to death. (depending on the type of hornet)

I don't know. My friend was laying on my bed and got stung by one. She said it hurt really bad.

Its hurts allot more than a regular bee sting! Sucks

Yess
Ow
Anyway it is more poisonus and should get treatment immediatly

Yes.

I accidently disturbed a hornet's nest and was stung about 7-8 times.

The main difference between bee stings and hornet stings, is that the bee leaves his stinger in you, making it impossible for him to sting you again. (They subsequently die.) While a hornet can sting you a multitude of times.

So while I have had a single bee sting, of course the multiple stings of the hornet were far more painful and the effect more long lasting.

I learned the hard way that Jay is right. They just keep hitting you and hitting you. My childhood remedy was aloe. The effect is immediate and after being popped several times it feels so good.

i think a hornet is more venomous. and yes ive been stung by every kind of bee known to mankind except the killer bee. and im allergic to their venom.
