Is it safe to drink water that has been use to dilute dry ice?!

Question: Sometimes we put dry ice on water to watch how the "smoke" gets away, but then when the dry ice has been completely "melted" is it safe to drink the water? I suppose it will be leaden with CO2... is the CO2 content has an effect?

CO2 is only dangerous if there is so much of it that it blocks the air you breathe.CO2 is heavier than oxygen and stays low, and only is bad in large enough quantities to block oxygen to your lungs. It probably wont hurt you to drink the water, but why not just get some drinking water to be sure. CO2 is not a poison like carbon monoxide.

When dry ice "melts" it actully vaporizes into the air. I have used it in punch for Halloween parties and it is fine to drink the punch. Go ahead!

depends on whether the dry ice is food-grade. If so, then the water remaining will just be carbonated. Harmless and fine to drink.
