My ring finger and pinky is busted, will I be okay?!

Question: I was breakdancing the other day. I was trying the windmill when I landed it wrong and caught myself with my fingers. In the process of catching myself, my ring finger and pinky slightly bent the wrong way. I was still able to make my hand into a fist afterwards but with some trouble though. It started swelling up little by little and there was no ice around to stop it. I went home to put some tiger balm on it, ice it for a bit, then wrap it with athletic tape before I went to sleep. When I woke up, it swelled up like a motherf-cker and now I have trouble moving it. Will I be okay? I'm going to the hospital for X-rays on monday.

Yes you will eventually be ok! It takes between 4 and 6 weeks for any fractures to heal. Its a good idea to continue icing it and take the ibuprofen to help with pain and swelling. There is always the chance that if your finger is fractured it is also malrotated which may necessitate surgery to fix the fracture so it heals properly. The reason you are having problems moving your finger are because of the swelling and you also probably injured the tendons that are in your finger allowing you to move it. Good luck!

It should be fine, I've broken my fingers tons of times and the worse that will really happen is that they might be slightly off center, or mabye click a little bit when you use them. Ibprofen is an anti inflammitory. Keeps your muscles and what not from messing up.
