What is the best lotion or treatment for dry chapped hands?!

Question: I am a bartender and have been bar tending for nearly 2 years straight. With all the hand washing, bottle top twisting, ice plunging, wine opening, lime cutting, and alcohol splashing my fingers and hands get fairly beat up.

I also have sensitive skin and have been using Lubriderm Sensitive Skin Therapy Lotion for a while now.

However, lately (and always during Winter months) my hands and knuckles have been extremely dry/chapped, and painful. I really don't want to be serving customers with bloody fingers/knuckles.

Is there anything I can do for my hands? What is the best lotion for my hands?

Thanks,

Guy

HOWDY!!! Guy,

Bulldog here! I don't know if you have tried this one or not but it works for me as long as i use it. I was introduced to it back in the 50's by my Grandpa. He had real, real dry skin and that is where my dry skin comes from but what a GREAT MAN Grandpa was. I sure miss him. This stuff is oil free. The ingredients; Water, Glycerin, SD Alcohol 40, Sodium Calcium Alginate, Oley! Sarcosine, Methylparaben, Guar, Gum, Triethanolamine, Calcium Sulfate, Fragrance, Calcium Chloride, Fumaric Acid, and Boric Acid. I know get to the product; It is CORN HUSKERS LOTION Heavy Duty Hand Treatment. The front label has oil free in the left corner, and yellow, green, and white.

Guy you should be able to find it in some grocery stores in the pahar. area. If you don't find it there check at the Drug Stores. I am 60yrs old and still use it on my hands and it does work if used on a daily basis. It my look gross but use it. Rub it in real good and your hands should be softer than they have been. Good Luck.

STAY SAFE!!!
Bulldog

i would say use carmex, it works great for chapped skin. of course i wouldnt recommend using it at work, its a little greasy so it would make it hard to open bottles and stuff.

PURE cocoa butter

i like body butters they always seem to work well for me

burt's bees original balm - its wonderful and has many uses.

Pure lanolin. You can find it in stores like Whole Foods, in the breastfeeding area. You will find that lanolin, or derivatives of it are the primary ingredient in most lotions and chapsticks. Its very thick, and works wonderfully for all sorts of dry skin etc.

Thermacare skin quencher. Hope this helps. You can also at night apply baby lotion or petroleum jelly which is the best, and cover your hands with the white gloves , that they make for this condition, dairy farmers use them alot. That will help them alot.

Invest in some eucerin cream. Apply this to your hands when you are going to bed and put a pair of latex or vinyl gloves over them. After a couple of days of doing this, you will see a huge improvement. It works..
