Do you think i have a pulled muscle in my chest?!

Question: 2 nights ago i all of a sudden had a severe stabbing pain in my chest just under my left breast. It is still there. I couldn't sleep that night because every time i moved it would really hurt. All day yesterday it ached and really hurt every time i moved, yawned, coughed, sneezed, laughed... or just breathed deeply. It really kills when i lay down. It doesn't hurt as much today.. just a dull ache but im still a little worried.

I did a workout the other day and im not a very fit person so i may have over exerted myself. Also i lifted a really heavy cast iron pot and i remember straining while i did so. So thats why i think it may be a pulled muscle.

Also every now and again ill just get bad chest pains in the middle of my chest for no apparent reason.. they feel different to this pain - more insistent and they only last a little while... Should i be worried? Or is this normal? Do other people get random pains too or is it just me?

My uncle died of a heart attack so im kinda scared

Go to the doctor!

You may have pulled a muscle, but this is something you DO NOT mess around about.

The chest pains could very well be angina, and you may have had a heart -- I don't know... I can tell you what one fills like though.

I was on a migraine medication and began having chest pains; I looked it up on the net, and found that it could cause heart problems. I immediately saw my doctor, who did a cardiogram, which looked normal. After getting off the medications, the angina, however, did not go away. So I had an appointment with a cardiologist the following Monday.

Sunday night I felt like a locomotive drove through my chest and my back was the worst pain I've ever had. I had pain medications, fortunately aspirin based, and I took them. The pain went on for four hours, and when I got up I was worn out.

My appointment with the cardiologist was the next day. I went, walked up the stairs, and had a shortness of breath. They did the cardiogram and got a copy of the one my GP had taken. I started some sort of stress test, but they cut it short. The doctor called me into his office and said, "You had a heart attack."

That was what the locomotive was.

I was immediately checked into the hospital (right across the street), put on a nitroglycerin drip (which made my head hurt so bad). The next day I had an angioplasty; they inserted a stent in the artery.

Fortunately I was exactly the right weight for my height, and my cholesterol was just 180 -- but it was still too high for me. Heart problems had killed every member in my dad's lineage.

After surgery, they placed a heavy pack on the groin where they had entered the artery to clean it out and fix it. It was 99% blocked. After the surgery, I was exhausted -- it takes a long time for your heart to heal. My dad had not gone to the doctor when he had his heart attack at age 57; I was younger.

I still take Plavix, which thins my blood, and cholesterol (Vytorin) medications, but it was a few years that I was also on blood pressure medicaitons.

Nitroglycerin causes severe headaches, but I carry it with me; and I've used it.

Do not take a chance with your life.

Yes, the new pain sounds like a pulled muscle or cartilage.

The continuing intermittent pain could be a hiatal hernia causing acid reflux. Please get it checked. Most cases are easily treated with over-the-counter drugs such as Prilosec, if that is really what is causing the problem.

The first set of pains you are describing most likely are muscle pain.

The second set ...are common in many females around the 40 yr + .Most times doctors will run tests and find absolutely nothing wrong..

If you are worried the best thing to do to put your mind at ease is to see you doctor ..it can't hurt.

You should probably see your family physician if this does not resolve soon.

First of all always check with a trainer before any exercising:

Yes It sound like it .

Take a heating pad and put it on 15mins. and cold pack 15mins to relax that muscle but you need someone with you to help you ..

Sorry your in pain because I know how you feel..

Be super careful next time..Good luck
