Ear infection, slightly yellow drainage?!

Question: Friday morning I woke up with an ear infection; worse on my left side than my right. A few hours later I went to the doctor and was put on an antibiotic, Mucinix D, and an ear drop to numb the ear drum.

Friday was better and I could actually hear, but by that evening (before I went to bed or bathed my kids), they clogged back up and the right ear was in quite a bit of pain. It took me awhile to put the drops in correctly and it me a great while to go to sleep.

Skip to this morning. I normally have clear discharge, but today I have SLIGHTLY yellow-tinged discharge. It only happened immediately after I got up, and it only happened when I dabbed my ear with a tissue for 5 minutes. My ear drum has not ruptered (been there, done that).

Now I realize I just woke to take my medicine, but now I'm getting frustrated. It's been now 9 days since this cold started, and although my cough and nose has finally calmed down, this ear infection is bothering me.

Do anyone have any insight?

You may need a stronger antibiotic, or the infection could have spread to the other ear as well. Definitely go back to the doctor if you are still feeling this way from Friday. Ear infections shouldn't take this long to feel better, especially not with the antibiotics in use for 72 hours already.
